Beauty Bag MAKEOVERS
By: Noreen Young

Women often carry 5 to 8 lbs. of stuff in their purse. Somehow, for some reason we think we need to carry the world in our purse and take our entire vanity.

Lighten up your load in the New Year and give your purse a makeover.

Start by cleaning out all that you have in there from old receipts to doctor’s appt. cards and maybe your children’s items. You also don’t need to carry every lipstick, big bottles of foundation and hand a body lotion.

Here is what you really need in your cosmetic bag from a professional makeup artist:

Start fresh!

Buy a new case or wipe down and clean your old cosmetic bag. I love to use a Beauty Day timer© it is like a day timer for your dates and other important notes. It even looks similar but is just for all things beauty.

  • Touch up powder or Asian powder papers
  • A neutral lip liner and an after five color
  • A lip conditioner. Celebrities and models are crazy about Rosebud Salve…I am too. It does multi-tasking beauty. Lip moisturizer and gloss, chapped cheeks, diaper rash and or softens weather beaten cuticles and hands. Unisex. My husband enjoys it too!
  • An eye pencil or liner to touch up and define your eyes during the day.
  • Mascara for layering more after five.
  • A matte and a shiny neutral shadow.
  • A versatile colored blush that goes with a lot. Gives your face an instant face-lift.
  • A shiny gorgeous gloss to modernize your look and touch up with shine!
  • 2 to 4 lipsticks or a lip case filled with them. I fill a case called a Lip Motel© with my tired poor melted lipsticks. On the other hand, you can create one by filling a vitamin pack with shades. Add a lip brush and you have mix and match beauty.
  • A nail clipper
  • A nail file
  • A mini hair spray
  • Comb and brush
  • A delicious hand cream

Mini’s and travel sizes are the way to go. When you can find them buy them and stock up on them too. I have small sizes or travel ones of most of all of the above. It is so much lighter and I feel efficient ready for touch ups and looks good too.

Say no to broken mirrors, lidless products, broken pencils, and makeup that smells bad. They are dangerous to your face and eyes. When in doubt throw it out.

Let the beauty you want be at your fingertips as easy as 1,2,3!
