Foods That Can Detox the Body

Toxins are found everywhere...in our water, food and air we breathe.

Household and industrial cleaners, car emissions and even the drugs we take to stay well.

But did you know there is something you can do to detoxify your body using nature's own foods?

Here are just a few to consider to insure your health and well-being.

-Fruits such as apples are extremely high in liquid content to wash out toxins. They are high in antioxidants, nutrients and fiber

-Leafy Greens contain chlorophyll to boost your digestive tract and rids the body of harmful toxins caused by pesticides, heavy metals etc. Rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, K, D and E. Enjoy barley, kale, spinach, spirulina, alfalfa, to mention a few.

-Citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, grapefruit and limes jumpstart the digestive tract. Containing high levels of vitamin C. They are also good for the liver.

-Garlic is rich in antioxidants ad helps protect the body against damaging "free radicals" that can cause premature aging and cancer.

-Broccoli contains 20 times more sulforaphane (contains anti-cancer, anti-diabetic and anti-microbial properties). Extremely high in antioxidants and can help stimulate the detoxification enzymes in the digestive tract.

-Omega-3 oils help lubricate the intestinal walls allows toxins to be absorbed by the oil and eliminated from the body. Oils such as flax seed, avocado and olive oils are wonderful to your body.

-Seeds & nuts contain fat for heart health and contain unsaturated fatty acids. Helps lower blood cholesterol and prevents heart disease. Great protein, fiber, vitamin B & E, iron, phosphorus, copper and potassium. Walnuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds should all be eaten raw and unsalted.

-Raw Veggies like carrots, artichoke, asparagus, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts are great detoxers for the liver. High in sulphur and glutathione which helps the liver remove harmful chemicals.

-Mung beans (a member of the legume family) used in China and India for thousands of years are a fantastic source of potassium which is needed for cardiovascular function and a healthy nervous system. Containing fiber to remove excess cholesterol and hormones out of the body. High in vitamin B for energy, they are easy to digest and absorb toxins stuck to the intestinal walls.

-Green Tea is full of antioxidants that wash out toxins from the body and increases liver function.
