Shades of Pink Magazine is for every woman – whatever her "shade of pink." January 2010 February 27, 2010, at Regency Square Mall Expo Center Free Screenings and Testing to Be Provided by Baptist Health Professionals Heart disease is the number-one killer of women in America, affecting one out of every four women. Baptist Health has partnered with the Sister to Sister Foundation for four years in organizing a free yearly Heart Health Fair for our community. Though Sister to Sister will not be involved this year, Baptist Health is continuing this important service with the newly created Women’s Heart Connection, a health fair that will test, screen and educate women about heart health. The Women’s Heart Connection, Heart Health Fair will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2010, from 9 am until 4 pm at the Regency Square Mall Expo Center, near Sears and Puppy Village in the former Montgomery Ward building. Baptist Health is working with The Callaghan Agency to coordinate this event, which is free and open to the public. The free screenings, valued at more than $250 in a doctor’s office, will include cholesterol, blood glucose levels, blood pressure and body mass index. This event will also offer fitness and cooking demonstrations, free massages, food samples and more than 50 local exhibitors. “Baptist Health is pleased to continue to offer heart health screenings free of charge for women in our community who are not able to receive regular check-ups,” says Michael Lanier, vice president for Community Health, Baptist Health. “Knowing your numbers – cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure and body mass index – is critical to heart disease prevention because it can help you start to learn about what you can do to get healthy. Through Women’s Heart Connection, participants will be able to get this vital information that is so important to their health.” Registration is recommended to plan for staffing for the free screenings. To register for this free event, please call The Callaghan Agency at 904.718.4595. Online registration will be available at www.e-baptisthealth.com/womenshealth beginning January 20, 2010.
